All About Mercedes-Benz S 600
The Mercedes-Benz S 600 sedan that appeared in 1992 marked the epitome of the recently redesigned S-Class models -- the family's first significant revamp in 12 years. The model was discontinued following the 2017 model year, though a Maybach variant was still offered after that. Those final models came equipped with features like 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels, perimeter approach lights, LED headlights and brake lights, rain-sensing variable intermittent wipers, anti-lock brakes, heated power side mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, air filtration, mobile hotspot internet access, navigation, and streaming audio.
How Much is an S 600 Used These Days?
A 2017 model, for example, can go for anywhere from $44,600 to $50,000 or so, according to Kelley Blue Book, while TrueCar prices the models at anywhere from $12,000 to $45,000 on average. Relatively inexpensive as that is for a luxury car ownership cost-wise, your customization options are endless. Our advice: start with investment protection -- put in all-weather floor mats, custom seat covers, and sunshades, and store your S 600 under a car cover when you aren't driving it.
Does the S 600 Have a V12 Engine?
Over the years, the sedan was powered by twin-turbo and naturally aspirated V12 engines, which teamed to either five- or seven-speed automatic transmissions. The 2017 model, for instance, had a 6.0-liter V12, capable of 523 horsepower and 612 pound-feet of torque. To improve those ratings, put in a turbocharger, add a cold air intake, and install a performance air filter. Also, mod the exhaust -- make it a cat-back system, and put in a high-flow catalytic converter.
